Class 4

                                     Welcome to Year 4

Your teachers this year are Mrs Lee, Mrs Warrington and Miss Power.

We want to ensure that your child reaches their full potential - emotionally, socially and academically - and we feel that this is best achieved when we work alongside parents and carers. We have a very exciting year of learning in Year 4.  You can find out more about our curriculum by visiting the 'Our Learning' 'Ash Grove Curriculum' tab of the website.

Our Autumn Term Bookshelf theme will be ‘Heroes and Villains’, in Spring it will be 'Imagine', and in the Summer Term we will finish with 'Journeys'. We will be looking at different aspects of these themes in the high-quality books and poems we will be exploring.

Reading

It is so important to develop children's reading skills and nurture their love of reading. We would encourage you to read to your child as well as listen to them at home as often as possible. Whilst in school, children will be reading from a range of high-quality texts from our class Reading Journey bookshelf and bringing home books from the school library to share with you.

P.E.

P.E. will be every Thursday and Friday. Children MUST keep their full P.E kit in school. P.E. is a vital part of the curriculum and all pupils are expected to participate with full kit. Swimming will be every Tuesday starting from 15.4.24 through to the end of the Summer term.

Times Tables

Times Tables are very important this year- please encourage your child to practise these as much as possible (see tab to the right).

Snack

Morning snack can be purchased for 25p. Children will have the choice between toast, bagel, pancake or croissant. Please send money into school with your child - if it is easier to send in £1.25 at the start of the week, feel free to do so and we will keep track of it in school. Your child can bring their own snack instead if you wish.
