Ash Grove Kindness Ambassadors

We believe that putting the emphasis on positive attributes such as kindness, compassion, honesty, courtesy and respect will create an environment where children make and maintain positive, healthy relationships.  This is a key protective factor that will help them become valuable members of society in the future.

Each year, two children from Reception to Year 6 are voted in as the Kindness Ambassadors for their class.  These children play a key role in promoting kindness and other positive attributes across the school, as well as helping to keep themselves and others safe.  These Ambassadors are integral to the school's bullying prevention strategy.  Throughout the year, they lead whole school assemblies to highlight positive attributes for each half term.

A 'Choose Kind' display board supports their work, where members of the school community can celebrate any acts of kindness that they see over the course of a school day.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.  It is the wilful, conscious desire to hurt, threaten or frighten someone.

Bullying can be physical, verbal or emotional. It can happen face-to-face or through cyberspace.

At Ash Grove Academy, we take any allegation of bullying very seriously.  The voice of the child is paramount, and we will always listen to any concerns from pupils or parents and take swift and appropriate action.

Ash Grove Academy supports Anti-Bullying Week each November, with children exploring the concepts of friendship, respect and tolerance, as well as what they can do to protect themselves and others from bullies.  Challenging stereotypes and discrimination and building, and maintaining healthy, positive relationships are also explored through discrete PSHE lessons in every year group.
