Forest School

During this academic year we will run Forest Schools; these sessions are organised on rotational basis whereby each class from Year 1 to Year 6 attends three sessions for 2 hours on a Wednesday afternoon 2.30-4.30pm.

The sessions will be led and managed by Dan Coates, an experienced park ranger. For further information on Dan please refer to http://www.rangerdan.co.uk. Mrs Finnegan and the class teachers will also facilitate the sessions. All of the sessions will be fully supervised and have been risk assessed.

During the sessions the children will participate in a range of camp craft activities including:-

Making an out-door bush craft area

Fire lighting and carving

Cooking over fire

Baking and toasting marshmallows

Nettle string and clay pottery

Den building and shelters

Bows, arrows and traps

This is an exciting enrichment session designed to improve self-esteem, team-work, social and communication skills, awareness of risk taking and wellbeing.
