Welcome to Year 6 for a very important and exciting year of learning. 

We want to ensure that your child reaches their full potential, emotionally, socially and academically, and we feel that this is best achieved when we work alongside parents.  Take a look at our school website to find out what your child will be learning in Year 6 -  Ash Grove Curriculum. 

We ask that you support us by ensuring that children have good attendance throughout their time in Year 6.

Reading

At Ash Grove Academy, we value reading as a vital life skill and strive to develop fluent, motivated readers and lifelong learners. Regular opportunities to practise reading greatly help children. Therefore, we ask that you encourage your child to read daily. Whilst in school, children will be reading from a range of high-quality texts from our class Reading Journey texts and will be bringing home texts from the school library to share with you.

PE

The children will have PE twice a week on a Wednesday and a Thursday. It is important that children have the correct PE kit every week so we advise that these are kept in lockers during the half-term. 

SATs

The 2027 Key Stage 2 Tests will take place from 10th - 13th May 2027. Please DO NOT book any holidays during SATs week.
