Class 6

Welcome to Year 6!                                        2023 - 2024

The Year 6 teaching team this year are:

Miss Lucas                Mrs Hall                Mrs Potts

We want to ensure that your child reaches their full potential, emotionally, socially and academically, and we feel that this is best achieved when we work alongside parents. We have a very exciting year ahead of us and many new things to learn. Take a look at our school website to find out what your child will be learning in Year 6 -  Ash Grove Curriculum!

We ask that you support us by ensuring that all homework is completed and that children have good attendance throughout their time in Year 6.

Reading

At Ash Grove Academy, we value Reading as a vital life skill and strive to develop fluent, motivated readers. Regular opportunities to practise reading greatly help children. Therefore, we ask that you encourage your child to read daily. Whilst in school, children will be reading from a range of high-quality texts from our class Reading Journey texts and will be bringing home texts from the school library to share with you at home.

PE

The children will have PE twice a week on a Monday and a Thursday. It is important that children have the correct PE kit every week so we advise that they are kept in lockers during the half-term. The children also take part in intra-house competitions at lunchtime as well as extra netball/football practice (for those on the team) so it’s a good idea to always have a pair of trainers in school.

SATs

The 2024 Key Stage 2 SATs will take place in the week commencing 13th May 2024. The tests will take place over four days. Please DO NOT book any holidays during SATs week.

Class Presentations

*Change of date* Year 6 Class Assembly – now Wednesday 18th October 3pm
