Welcome to Year 6! 2021 – 2022
Welcome to Year 6! Our teaching team includes Miss Lucas (Class Teacher), Mrs Hall and Mrs Claydon-Bell.
We, as a school, want to ensure that your child reaches their full potential, emotionally, socially and academically, and we feel that this is best achieved when we work alongside parents. Below, you will find some information that will hopefully answer many of your questions and give you a clear overview as to what your children will be doing in school. We ask that you support us by ensuring that all homework is completed and that children have good attendance throughout their time in Year 6.
Our Autumn Term Bookshelves theme will be ‘Heroes and Villains’, in Spring it will be 'Imagine', and in the Summer Term we will finish with 'Journeys'. We will be looking at different aspects of these themes in the high-quality books and poems we will be exploring.
We are looking forward to the start of a new school year and sharing all the great learning experiences we have in store for your child.
P.E. will be every Monday and Thursday, but we ask that the P.E kit is kept in school every day as plans do sometimes change. P.E. is a vital part of the curriculum and all pupils are expected to participate.
Homework will be set on Tuesday, due in the following Monday.
Reading - please encourage your child to read for 20 minutes every day.
KS2 SATs Guidance for parents
Towards the end of Key Stage 2, Year 6 children take the KS2 SATs. (Statutory Assessment Tests). The children are assessed during the week commencing the 9th May for a whole week.
Unlike Key Stage 1 tests, which do not have strict time limits, the Key Stage 2 tests are strictly timed. We will give you further information about how the tests are organised and which tests will be on which day as we get closer to SATs week. Until then, please continue to support your child with their homework, reading, attendance and positive attitude to learning.
Please follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with all the exciting learning we do this term!
