Spanish is taught by a specialist teacher throughout Key Stage 2 at Ash Grove. The Spanish curriculum is structured so that in Year 3 children are introduced to the sounds of the Spanish language and learn basic vocabulary and communication skills. They begin to develop the skills of reading and writing, which are directly linked to their speaking skills.

This is built on progressively in each year throughout Key Stage 2 so that by the end of Year 6, children will be able to speak confidently about familiar topics using a range of vocabulary and some common past tense verbs.
